Cooking Up a Storm in Arctic Eggs

Cooking Up a Storm in Arctic Eggs

When it comes to fried eggs, I must admit that I am not their biggest fan. However, my opinions took a turn when I stumbled upon the intriguing sci-fi cooking simulation game, Arctic Eggs. The game’s unique concept and mesmerizing visuals immediately caught my attention, despite my usual aversion to fried eggs.

The sparse description and moody trailer of Arctic Eggs paint a picture of a dystopian Antarctica where eggs and possibly chickens have been outlawed. Players take on the role of a Poultry Peddler trapped in this frozen wasteland, whose only escape seems to be by cooking breakfast for the inhabitants. The mismatch between the name “Arctic” and the setting in Antarctica adds an interesting twist to the game’s premise.

In Arctic Eggs, players engage in a physics-based simulation of a frying pan, where they must cook a variety of meals including eggs, sausages, fish, bacon, and even unlit cigarettes. The challenge lies in rotating the pan to ensure that the ingredients are cooked evenly and prevent them from burning. The gameplay is enhanced by the jagged polygonal models of soldiers, staircases, industrial towers, and chickens reminiscent of classic games like Half-Life and Metal Gear Solid.

Arctic Eggs is set to release on Steam soon and is developed by indie studio The Water Museum, known for their previous title IBIS AM. The game offers a unique and affordable gaming experience, priced at less than £2. With its weird and wonderful concept, Arctic Eggs promises to be a delightful and unconventional adventure for players seeking something out of the ordinary.

Arctic Eggs is a culinary journey like no other, blending sci-fi elements with cooking simulation in a dystopian setting. Despite my initial reservations about fried eggs, this game has piqued my curiosity and I look forward to immersing myself in its strange and captivating world. If you’re in the mood for a quirky indie game that challenges your cooking skills and transports you to a bizarre reality, Arctic Eggs might just be the perfect choice for your next gaming escapade.
