The social media platform has partnered with cybersecurity firms HaystackID and OnDefend to monitor its safety and data protection protocols. These new contractors will act as “Independent Security Inspectors” for TikTok U.S. Data Security Inc. (USDS), a group established as part of TikTok’s broader initiative, “Project Texas.”
Focus on Data Protection
TikTok emphasizes that USDS plays a crucial role in controlling access to protected U.S. user data, content recommendation, and moderation systems within the secure Oracle Cloud. This heightened focus and governance aim to ensure that TikTok’s operations in the U.S. adhere to strict data protection policies and content assurance protocols, ultimately providing users with an authentic experience on the platform. The collaboration with HaystackID and OnDefend, supported by Mandiant Consulting, underscores TikTok USDS’s commitment to meeting rigorous cybersecurity standards.
