Asus, a well-known manufacturer of motherboards, is gearing up to support Microsoft’s newest feature called Dynamic Lighting. This feature enables Windows 11 users to have control over their motherboard’s RGB lighting directly from the operating system, eliminating the need for a separate application.
Microsoft introduced Dynamic Lighting to Windows 11 in September, marking the first time that native RGB lighting controls are integrated into the OS. This feature utilizes the open HID LampArray standard, allowing users to manipulate RGB lights effortlessly. Several major manufacturers, including Acer, HP, HyperX, Logitech, Razer, and Twinkly, have collaborated with Microsoft to implement Dynamic Lighting support in their products.
As part of its commitment to embracing Dynamic Lighting, Asus has commenced beta BIOS testing for its AMD 600 and Intel 700 series motherboards. These updates are designed to enable Dynamic Lighting support on Asus motherboards. While the beta BIOS version is accessible through Asus’ forums, caution is advised when flashing it, as bugs may be encountered. It is recommended to be prepared to revert to an older BIOS version if necessary.
Once the Asus motherboard is updated to support Dynamic Lighting, users can customize brightness, colors, and effects directly from the Settings section of Windows 11. This eliminates the need for Asus’ Armory Crate tool, as users can now utilize native RGB controls within the operating system. Additionally, the integration of Dynamic Lighting means that third-party RGB controller software, such as OpenRGB, is no longer essential unless users require specific functionalities it offers.
In addition to Dynamic Lighting support, the beta BIOS updates for Asus’ Intel Z790 motherboards also include a microcode update. This update is expected to address some of the game crashing issues that Intel users have been experiencing. By incorporating this update, Asus aims to enhance the overall stability and performance of their motherboards for an improved user experience.
