WhatsApp Testing New Features for Easy Video Sharing and P2P Payments

WhatsApp is currently in the process of testing two exciting new features that could potentially change the way users interact with the app. One of these features includes the ability to share longer videos as status updates. These longer videos, up to 60 seconds in length, will provide users with more freedom and creativity when it comes to expressing themselves on the platform. This upgrade effectively doubles the existing 30-second limit for video uploads to status updates.

Fast Peer-to-Peer Payments

Another game-changing feature that is currently being tested is the faster peer-to-peer (P2P) payments via UPI. Users will soon be able to quickly scan any QR code to send money to merchants or other users. This new feature aims to streamline the payment process and make it more convenient for users to complete transactions within the app. By simplifying the payment process, WhatsApp is creating a more seamless experience for its users.

In addition to these new features, WhatsApp has also recently introduced a QR code scanner shortcut for easier UPI payments. This shortcut eliminates the need to navigate through multiple menus, allowing users to make payments with just a couple of taps. Furthermore, the app has added the ability to pin multiple chats to the top of the screen, enabling users to access their most important conversations more efficiently.

Security Measures

WhatsApp is also focusing on enhancing security within the app. The messaging service has started blocking the ability to capture screenshots of users’ profile photos on Android smartphones, with Pixel devices displaying an all-black screenshot and other Android phones simply refusing to take a screengrab due to security policies. These measures are designed to protect user privacy and prevent unauthorized sharing of personal information.

As these new features are currently in the testing phase, they are expected to be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks or months. Users can look forward to longer video status updates, a more convenient QR code scanner for payments, and an easier way to access important chats at the top of their chat list. WhatsApp’s commitment to improving user experience and enhancing security measures is evident in these latest updates.
