Blackmagic Design has recently announced the launch of its new DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel, specifically designed for the iPad. This new addition to their line of color panels is smaller, more affordable, and aims to provide a portable solution for professional video editors.
The DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel measures 14.33 inches by 7.18 inches, making it about the size of a computer keyboard. It comes equipped with three weighted trackballs and 12 control knobs that can be used to adjust shadows, highlights, contrast, and mid-tones. Despite its smaller size, Blackmagic has ensured that the controls on the Micro Color Panel are strategically placed to maintain familiarity for editors.
One of the key features of the Micro Color Panel is its compatibility with the iPad Pro, as it comes with a mounting slot specifically designed for the device. The panel can be connected to the iPad via Bluetooth or USB-C, providing flexibility in how editors choose to work. Priced at $495, the Micro Color Panel offers a more affordable alternative to Blackmagic’s other color panels, with the Mini Panel listed at over $2,000 on their website.
Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design, highlighted the company’s focus on providing a compact, portable, and cost-effective grading panel with the release of the Micro Color Panel. He emphasized the company’s dedication to offering localized versions in multiple languages, ensuring accessibility for users worldwide.
The DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel is set to be available worldwide in May. Blackmagic Design will also be showcasing the panel at NAB 2024, giving editors the opportunity to experience its functionality firsthand at the show booth (#SL5005).
Overall, the introduction of the DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel signifies an innovative step towards enhancing the editing experience on the iPad. With its compact size, affordability, and professional-grade features, this new addition to Blackmagic’s lineup is poised to revolutionize the world of video editing for iPad users.
