Boeing’s Starliner and SpaceX’s Crew Dragon are both human-grade space capsules designed to transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station. Boeing initiated the development of the Starliner in 2014 with a $4.2 billion contract from NASA as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program. At the same time, SpaceX also received a contract from NASA amounting to $2.6 billion to develop its Crew Dragon capsule.
