Instagram Launches Creator Lab in India and Introduces New Features to Increase Engagement

Instagram made a significant announcement on Thursday with the launch of its Creator Lab in India during an event held in Mumbai. This educational resource will be focused on content creators and will feature popular Instagram users from India. The Creator Lab will offer valuable insights and strategies for aspiring creators, with content available in both English and Hindi, along with captions in five other languages.

The Instagram Creator Lab will source content from 14 creators across the country, ensuring a wide range of perspectives and expertise. Director of Global Partnerships at Meta India, Paras Sharma, shared details about the resources that will be offered through the Creator Lab. This initiative builds upon the success of Instagram’s Born on Instagram programme, which was launched in 2019 to support content creators in India.

In addition to the Creator Lab launch, Instagram also introduced three new features on its platform to enhance engagement among users. The first feature, Comments in Stories, enables users to interact with each other by commenting on stories. These comments will disappear after 24 hours unless the story is added to Highlights, where they will remain visible.

Enhancements to Features

Instagram has been continuously updating its platform to provide a better user experience. The platform recently introduced the ability to use cutouts of images as stickers on stories. This functionality has now been expanded to chats on the platform, allowing users to send cutouts of images from their camera roll as stickers in DMs.

Another feature announced by Instagram is Birthday Notes, aimed at increasing engagement and personalizing user experience. Users who opt in to this feature will see a small hat icon appear in the Instagram Notes section on their birthday. Instagram assures that Birthday Notes will adhere to the same privacy settings as regular Instagram notes, giving users control over their information and interactions.

The launch of the Creator Lab in India and the introduction of new features on Instagram underscore the platform’s commitment to supporting content creators and enhancing user engagement. By providing valuable resources, tools, and features, Instagram aims to foster a dynamic and interactive community for users in India and beyond. As the platform continues to evolve, users can look forward to more innovative updates and opportunities for creativity and collaboration.
