The Microlino Lite: A New Urban Mobility Solution

The Microlino Lite, a new electric microcar from Swiss company Micro, was recently unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. With a top speed of 45km/h, it is targeted towards urbanites in European cities who are looking for a convenient mode of transportation that is faster than an e-bike but more compact than a full-sized car.

The Microlino Lite shares the same steel unibody design as its larger counterpart, the Microlino, measuring 2.5m long, 1.47m wide, and 1.5m high. It has a curb weight under 600kg and is classified as an L6e vehicle, meaning it can be driven by anyone with an AM-class moped license in Europe.

Equipped with a 5.5kWh battery, the Microlino Lite can travel up to 100km before needing a charge. For those looking for a longer range, there is an option to upgrade to an 11kWh battery pack, extending the range to a maximum of 177km. Charging the battery from 0 to 80 percent takes about two hours with a 2.2kW Type 2 charger for the 5.5kWh battery, and about four hours for the 11kWh battery.

The Microlino Lite is priced at CHF149 per month for a 48-month 5,000km/year lease, making it an affordable option for urban dwellers. This pricing is competitive with e-bike subscriptions and other electric microcars in the market. The microcar is available in blue or anthracite grey and offers options for a base or upgraded premium interior.

The Microlino Lite presents itself as a promising urban mobility solution, catering to the needs of city residents who require a compact and energy-efficient vehicle for their daily commute. With its launch in Europe and plans for expansion to other regions, the Microlino Lite is set to make a significant impact on the future of urban transportation.

Overall, the Microlino Lite offers a blend of convenience, sustainability, and affordability, making it a compelling option for those looking to navigate crowded city streets with ease. Its compact size, impressive range, and stylish design are sure to attract a wide range of consumers seeking a practical and environmentally friendly mode of transportation. As urban areas continue to grapple with issues of traffic congestion and air pollution, innovative solutions like the Microlino Lite have the potential to revolutionize the way we move around our cities.
